On a short road trip we visit PCT Days and enjoy some rest. Then back on the trail I have emotional coming to terms with a fire closing the end, finishing our hike early and incomplete. I’m reunited with the gang and we form Operation to walk to Canada. This was such a tough smoky section.
We hike through the gorgeous Goat Rocks Wilderness with amazing mountain views, and then, I break away from the group and hike solo to smash out a huge 160km (100miles) in 3.5 days to catch a hitch from Snoqualmie Pass to PCT Days. This still remains my favourite section of the whole hike.
Leaving Cascade Locks I silently celebrate as I start on my final state, Washington, meaning I should finish the trail in just a few short weeks. It’s hot, I’m gross and chaffing, the hills are intense and I’m low on water. It’s a roller coaster but, I’m so so grateful.
Recovering from being sick we rest at Government Camp then make our way to Cascade Locks, officially finishing Oregon! Phew, glad that parts over…
In possibly my lowest week on the PCT I say goodbye to Ross, get extremely sick with a UTI, and incredibly homesick as a result. But! There was still beauty, and we celebrate walking 2000 Miles!
To those of you keenly following my PCT journey through this blog – THANKYOU! In a quick update since my last post I’ve gotten sick, gotten better, had a leg on my own, finished Oregon, am halfway through Washington and increased my mileage by a lot. I’m now up to 31mile days (50km) which hasn’t …
Day 121 10.07.18 9 Miles / 14.5km Waking up in our Dunsmuir hotel at 6:30am we make coffee, have our breakfast and finish packing our bags. Jack Rabbit gave us a lift to the trailhead and we were off walking North again. Met with an immediately uphill trail the nerve pain down my right leg …
Day 110 29.06.18 3 Miles / 5km The day started with delux bagels made by Four Eyes, followed by multiple buses and a shuttle getting us to the Devils Post Pile which is a short detour from the PCT. The unique rock formation is a result of basaltic layers cooling and shrinking into hexagonal columns …
Day 99 18.06.18 14 Miles / 23km Trying out my new shoe insoles bought in South Lake Tahoe I immediately feel an improvement. My first few steps for the morning didn’t hurt, especially surprising considering the weight of my bag. My next few miles didn’t hurt either, now feeling support under my arches with each …
