“We are not a team because we work together, we are a team because we respect, trust and care for each other” – Vala Afsha
By being consistently surrounded by people who understand the love of the outdoors it’s not till you meeting someone from “off the street” that you realise just how crazy all the stuff we do is.
My new Physio is that person.
After learning all these new things like what adventure racing is, and how we train for it, his reaction has given me a new insight on how great the team around me is.
While all of us are always up for the next adventure, it really is loyalty that brings you to training at 1am in the rain. He couldn’t believe everyone arrived and departed on the overnight trip because all of his friends would simply say “your crazy” and not go.
Our dedication (stubbornness) to the project has also been highlighted. With 6 weeks until the event we are now well and truly committed, and making sure we are ready. This is despite summer ending, daylight savings finishing, the crazy weather and injuries. Our eyes are set on the prize and there’s no turning back.
So I just wanted to say Thankyou to everyone who has helped me along the way. My team mates, support crew, mentors, and everyone else who has listened to how sore I am, asked how progress is coming along or simply encouraged me. You’ve all played a huge part in how far we’ve come already, in helping us reach our goals, and making what once seemed only a dream entirely possible.
