Have you ever experienced those excited butterflies before you do something big? Been aware that you might fail whatever you are embarking on, but willing to try anyway? That’s good fear. It’s acknowledging that what you are about to do is so crazy that it might just work, rather than a guaranteed success. It’s throwing …
Kayaking Deep Cove, North Vancouver CA
Keen to rest our legs we hire kayaks and spend a few hours exploring deep cove. Born was the story of Adventure Orange.
Day 169 – 173 Skykomish to Steheiken
The highs and lows of the last week on trail. I hike consecutive 50km (30mile) days and am utterly exhausted. Then I’m back to hiking with the gang along fire closures and get great news at the end…read more to see how I handle it.
Day 160 – 168 Snoqualmie Pass to Skykomish
On a short road trip we visit PCT Days and enjoy some rest. Then back on the trail I have emotional coming to terms with a fire closing the end, finishing our hike early and incomplete. I’m reunited with the gang and we form Operation to walk to Canada. This was such a tough smoky section.
Day 153 – 159 Goat Rocks Wilderness to Snoqualmie Pass
We hike through the gorgeous Goat Rocks Wilderness with amazing mountain views, and then, I break away from the group and hike solo to smash out a huge 160km (100miles) in 3.5 days to catch a hitch from Snoqualmie Pass to PCT Days. This still remains my favourite section of the whole hike.
Days 148 – 152 Cascade Locks to Goat Rocks Wilderness
Leaving Cascade Locks I silently celebrate as I start on my final state, Washington, meaning I should finish the trail in just a few short weeks. It’s hot, I’m gross and chaffing, the hills are intense and I’m low on water. It’s a roller coaster but, I’m so so grateful.
Days 133 – 143 Crater Lake to Government Camp
In possibly my lowest week on the PCT I say goodbye to Ross, get extremely sick with a UTI, and incredibly homesick as a result. But! There was still beauty, and we celebrate walking 2000 Miles!
Days 121 – 132 Dunsmuir to Ashland
Day 121 10.07.18 9 Miles / 14.5km Waking up in our Dunsmuir hotel at 6:30am we make coffee, have our breakfast and finish packing our bags. Jack Rabbit gave us a lift to the trailhead and we were off walking North again. Met with an immediately uphill trail the nerve pain down my right leg …
Days 110 – 120 Mammoth to Bishop (SOBO)
Day 110 29.06.18 3 Miles / 5km The day started with delux bagels made by Four Eyes, followed by multiple buses and a shuttle getting us to the Devils Post Pile which is a short detour from the PCT. The unique rock formation is a result of basaltic layers cooling and shrinking into hexagonal columns …
Days 99 – 109 South Lake Tahoe to Mammoth (SOBO)
Day 99 18.06.18 14 Miles / 23km Trying out my new shoe insoles bought in South Lake Tahoe I immediately feel an improvement. My first few steps for the morning didn’t hurt, especially surprising considering the weight of my bag. My next few miles didn’t hurt either, now feeling support under my arches with each …
